What’s new this Christmas?

We've been working hard behind the scenes to ensure we deliver an exciting new range to help menus feel fresh at Christmas. Rachel Cook, Category Manager

Q. What’s your role with bringing our new festive range to life?

As the Category Manager for desserts, my role involves briefing our suppliers on the kind of products we’re looking for this year, working around some of the key market trends, including alcoholic desserts, nostalgia, classics with a twist and of course ginger.

Q. Could you tell us a little about the process of developing new products in our range?

After the initial brief is sent out, we work closely with our suppliers to brainstorm ideas with their product development teams. We then hold plenty of tasting sessions as a category team. Once we have selected and finalised the range, products go through lengthy product trials to ensure they’re of the highest quality, and finally they’re then ready to launch to our customers.

Q. What’s your favourite new product from this year’s range and why?

My favourite product this year is our vegan white & dark chocolate cheesecake. It is an exemplary vegan product, rich, creamy and decadent whilst also being light as a feather. It’s also gluten free so it ticks all the boxes.

Q. What’s your role with bringing our new festive range to life?
I’m Martin, Food Innovation Manager here at Bidfood, I work alongside our Category Managers and Campaign Manager in looking at what’s trending on menus for Christmas, as well as working closely with some of our customers and suppliers.

Q. Could you tell us a little about the process of developing new products in our range?
We start our process here at Bidfood way before the last turkey dinner has been eaten the year before! We look at trends and research, benchmark products that look and taste amazing, and yes we do eat a lot of Christmas products before Christmas! Then we work closely with our manufacturing partners to create recipes and products to tantalise our customers’ taste buds.

Q. What’s your favourite new product from this year’s range and why?
That’s tough, as I have a few favourites! Our delicious new Arancini range delivers a really easy starter or buffet option, but I also thoroughly recommend the Panettone Cheesecake – it’s a classic flavour at Christmas!
